2021 Symposium on “The Role and Challenge of Traditional Medicine in Acute Infectious and Chronic Diseases” Registration Open!
Invitation:
The purpose of this symposium entitled “The Role and Challenge of Traditional Medicine in Acute Infectious and Chronic Diseases” to be held in Academia Sinica is to bring together scientists, clinicians, leaders and R&D managers from industries that are working on or are interested in using traditional medicines or emerging phytomedicine approaches to deal with human acute and/or chronic diseases.
Starting from early 2020, global communities have been threatened by the severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and efficient medicines or remedies to prevent or cure the subsequent pandemic are still lacking. COVID-19 affects healthy populations and is also a great threat to those with chronic diseases.
Through this symposium, we hope to facilitate closer communication between colleagues and friends from research institutions/universities, clinics, and industries about the roles traditional medicine can play in combating acute infectious and chronic diseases. We particularly encourage and invite young investigators, students, and those working in industry in these or other disciplines to join the symposium to discuss and debate the current status and challenge of traditional herbal medicines and their practices, and to discuss what new approaches and methodologies we can create together to combat this newly evolved life-threatening pandemic as well as chronic diseases, such as cancer, auto-immune and neurodegenerative diseases. How we can promote the development of traditional herbal medicine into nutraceuticals and/or modernized medicines in industry for disease prevention and therapy will also be a topic of discussion.
